Synopsis: The stark world continues to change. Each passing day twists it further, pushing the surviving humans closer to the brink of extinction. But, for the first time, there is hope.

Clare and Dorran have set their sights on returning home to Winterbourne Hall. It's a daunting journey, but vital. Humanity needs more refuges—safe areas where food can be grown without attracting the attention of the hollow ones—and the old gothic manor is their best bet.

But their home is no longer a sanctuary. It’s become a trap: carefully crafted for them, lying in wait for their return. By the time they realize just how dangerous Winterbourne has become, it’s already too late.

The fight for survival is far from over.

Review:

If there was a series from last year that I was glad to come across, it would definitely have to be the Dark Winter series by Darcy Coates.

I generally don't tend to lean towards books in the genre as I am not a fan of a lot of horror related works. That being said, I am glad I went out on a lim and picked up this series to give this genre a go.

From page one of the final book, Darcy Coates once again draws you into the world and its characters. Throughout the events of the book, you feel the emotions of the characters and you genially root for them to succeed in this brutal world that has been taken over by the hollow ones. The plot of this final book had me drawn in from the start and I could not put it down until I had turned the last page.

Clare and Dorran are definitely one of my new favourite book couples and I am really sad to see their journey come to an end.

This is definitely a series I would recommend any horror fan to add to their Tbr ASAP.
