Synopsis: After narrowly escaping death at the hands of the Dames Blanches, Lou, Reid, Coco, and Ansel are on the run from coven, kingdom, and church—fugitives with nowhere to hide.
To elude the scores of witches and throngs of chasseurs at their heels, Lou and Reid need allies. Strong ones. But protection comes at a price, and the group is forced to embark on separate quests to build their forces. As Lou and Reid try to close the widening rift between them, the dastardly Morgane baits them in a lethal game of cat and mouse that threatens to destroy something worth more than any coven.
Review:
Wow
Once again Shelby Mahurin has blown me away with her writing.
I knew that there were mixed reviews for this book so going in I was either going to hate it or love this world even more. Suffice to say I was engrossed from the very first page.
The book starts off straight after the events of Serpent & Dove and keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I love the interactions between Lou & Reid and how their relationship developed throughout the events of this book. You can relate to the characters and their struggle to end Morgane's terror without losing themselves in the process. The only complaint I would have, is that I found Reid to be a little whiny at times, but as the story went on you grew to understand why he thinks that way and how his relationship with Lou makes him question the world around him.
And that ending just floored me. I am very excited to see how this story ends in August.
